Shopping For Candle Making Molds

Friday, June 18th, 2010

With the sheer number of choices for candle molds available in the market these days, you will have a very enjoyable time picking the best varieties for your candle designs.

Aluminum molds

The most common choice is aluminum molds, because they are relatively cheap, lightweight, and they can be reused easily with minimal cleaning effort.

You can choose from octagonal molds, octagonal for votive candles, round molds of different heights (perfect for large, pillar candles), and of course, square aluminum molds for candles that can be neatly stacked in storage.Aluminum molds are hardier than other types of molds because they are seamless. This also reduces the risk of wax spills during pouring.

Votive molds

People are becoming more and more impressed with the long burning time of votive candles. It’s a good thing that candle making suppliers are coming up with more choices for both beginner and seasoned candle makers alike. If you like the look of metal, then metal votive molds are your best choice. Round, medium-sized metal votive molds allow you to install candles that can burn for up fifteen hours at a time!

For a brighter ambiance fit for bathrooms and bedrooms, transparent, amber votive molds are a good choice. These smaller cups or molds are
usually packed in cases. A case can hold up to 60 cups at a time.

Now, you are by no means limited to metal and glass votive molds. Plastic molds are just as safe, since they are manufactured from lightweight but thick plastics with high melting points.

These votive molds come in a wide variety of colors for the discerning candle makers. To ensure that you get perfectly placed wicks every time, you may also consider using metal pins. These tall pins are placed in the mold before the wax is poured to ensure that the wick stays at the center.

Tealights galore

Small, scented tealight candles can add the perfect mood to any room. You can easily make tealight candles with the help of colorful, tealight molds made from different base materials.

Again, if you like the look of metal molds, then you should opt for aluminum tealight molds. If metal does not appeal to you, order molds made from polycarbonate to stay on the safe side. When you’re just pouring wax, large molds made from polyurethane can be used instead. These large molds can be used to make up to fifteen tealight candles at a time.
